Cheap vs Expensive Earphones: Which is best for you?

In this amazing post, I am going to differentiate between cheap and expensive earphones. Cheap headphones also produce sound but why is the sound quality so bad? Why do expensive earphones have a better sound quality and are very comfortable?

Why do you itch when using cheap earphones? How to know which earphone under 1000 is best for you? Yes, you will definitely get answers to all these questions.

Please don’t be fooled:- I have seen many youtube videos in which video makers convert wired earphones into wireless earphones by simply cutting and connecting them with a thread. Well, these are crap videos.

I said this because many people believe in such things. After all, such videos get millions of views. These are all fake videos. Don’t ruin your wired earphones (if working properly) using this type of technique.

How does an earphone work? (very short explanation)

Let us first understand how an earphone works (very short explanation). Earphones have a circular sheet-like part called a diaphragm. A circular voice coil or electromagnetic coil is attached to the diaphragm. A magnet is present behind the diaphragm and coil.

This electromagnetic coil starts vibrating whenever a signal passes through it. Due to the vibration of the coil, the diaphragm starts vibrating which then produces sound.

The sound you hear is caused by the vibration of the diaphragm. The sound quality also depends on the vibration of the diaphragm. The more dynamic range an earphone has, the better quality sound it produces.

Cheap Earphones Vs Expensive Earphones

Bass quality depends on the structure of the earphone like driver size, earphone size, echo, etc. Have you ever wondered why guitar produces high volume and good sound? Well, it’s because of the structure behind the strings. It amplifies the sound produced.

Like guitars, earphones also need a good structure to amplify the sound produced by the diaphragm. So this is one of the differences between cheap and expensive earphones. Expensive earphones have a good structure and the vibration of the diaphragm is also good, which helps produce good quality and loud sound.

Personally, I have experienced that Rs. 100 earphones hurt my ears. The reason behind this is the improper structure and vibration of the diaphragm. The diaphragm of cheap earphones only vibrates to produce a louder sound. These types of sounds have neither clarity, dynamic range nor details in sound.

Build Quality

Another difference between cheap and expensive earphones is the build quality. You must have noticed that some earphones stop working in just 4-5 months. This is because the quality of the wire or the plastic they use is very cheap. If they are selling earphones at a cheap price then obviously they are going to reduce the build quality.

Cheap and expensive earphones have different types of ear tips. Some ear tips are made of plastic while some are made of rubber. It totally depends on your point of view of comfort. Some people feel comfortable using plastic ear tips while some are not.

Most people prefer rubber ear tips instead of plastic ear tips. So if you choose rubber ear tips then try to choose soft ear tips. It will surely give comfort to your ears.

Which one Should you buy?

Which headphones or earphones should you be using now? It completely depends on your budget. But if you are a person from a middle-class background, then prefer to choose an earphone that is priced mid-range (neither cheap nor expensive).

You can buy earphones for around Rs 500. This type of earphone has a good build and sound quality. You will not regret buying such earphones. If you use the mid-range earphone carefully then it will easily last for 1-1.5 years. And the sound quality of the mid-range earphones is also quite good.

Some earphones reduce the sound quality to improve the build quality and vice versa. I would not recommend these types of earphones as you will have to settle on one of the major factors. Nevertheless, it is your choice. If you prefer sound quality over build quality then go for it but keep in mind that it will not last long.

Also, I would like to buy an earphone with an L-shaped earphone jack. The L-shaped earphone jack is good for gaming and durable too.

Keep in mind that you cannot make wireless earphones at home just by disconnecting the wired phone. just don’t waste your money,.
